Description
The Nike Swoosh was designed by Carolyn Davidson, who was a graphic design student at Portland State University at the time. Nike co-founder Phil Knight was an assistant professor at Portland State when they met and hired Davidson to design a logo for a rate of $2 an hour. Davidson billed for 17.5 hours of work, which is $35 for the iconic logo we see today. It seems like Davidson got the short end of the stick, but in 1983, Nike gifted Davidson shares of stock in Nike, which is estimated to value at around 1 million USD. Davidson states she hasn’t sold any shares.
